In this edition of the Guru spotlight, we spoke to Software Developer, Gohar Hakobyan, about how her team has grown in the three years since she joined, what she feels is her mission at Estateguru, how she attends to her physical and mental growth, and why her colleagues are like a family to her.
How long have you been part of the Estateguru team?
I joined Estateguru around 3 years ago. At that time we had a team of 4 engineers in Armenia. After overcoming lots of obstacles and passing through hard times, we were able to establish a well-structured team of 22 professional people in the Armenian office. A lot of the credit should go to Ararat (Yuzbashyan, Estateguru’s Chief Technical Officer) and Eduard (Asatryan, Head of Estateguru’s software development team) for their outstanding management and for being there for the whole team all of the time.
What’s your mission at Estateguru?
I started my career path in Estateguru as a junior developer. At that time there were no separate departments in the IT department of our company and we all handled all of the aspects of the project simultaneously. But later, along with the growth of Estateguru and especially the development team, it became necessary to form separate teams corresponding to the needs of individual projects. After that separation, I took the role of Team lead of the IT finance department. In regards to my mission in our company, I would like to mention my responsibilities of managing the working processes of developers and QA engineers inside the team, helping them solve the stopper issues on time, providing a quality product free of bugs and being a best friend for all the team by motivating them with the results of our teamwork. I would also like to thank our amazing Product Manager (Group Product Owner: Finance & Operation, Maria Pojarkova) who helps us accomplish our goals in a very well-planned manner.
Estateguru’s key values are growth orientation, boldness, freedom, honesty, determination, and empathy. How do you experience these values in the company?
I truly feel that I follow all the values of Estateguru and I experience them every day. Human qualities and relations are very important for our company and when hiring someone new we value it the most. By following the values, we always have the opportunity to grow and to learn new things constantly. Our company is like a family to me and the attitude of members of that family is crucial as we spend most of our time with them.
What do you like most about working at Estateguru
To me, here in Estateguru, everyone is in the right place and is a real professional who boosts the growth of the company. We have good developed traditions also and one of the vivid examples of that is the summer event organised by the company every year. This remarkable event gives a great opportunity to get acquainted with all the team members from around the world and moreover, spend a fantastic time with them. Such events have a huge influence on motivation. I will also add that all the employees of Estateguru are highly appreciated and are always given a chance to extensively grow.
Tell us something interesting about yourself. What do you do in your free time?
Besides professional growth, I always try to find time for physical and mental growth by attending yoga classes which are included in the list of benefits given by Estateguru and I always keep a list of books which I like to read throughout the year no matter what. I also prioritise spending time with family and friends and the positive emotions I receive from the time I spend with them gives me strength in my daily life. I also love travelling a lot and I try not to miss a single chance to see something new. I follow the rule that it is always possible to find solutions for everything in life.
