In this edition of the Guru Spotlight interview, we spoke to our Head of Sales Estonia, Tauri Tiik, about his mission at Estateguru, his favourite cuisine, what he loves about working at the company and how his perspective has changed since joining seven years ago.
How long have you been part of the Estateguru team?
I joined the team in August 2016, when there were only five other people on staff.
What’s your mission at EG?
To secure a stable income for the company and provide more sales leads. My mission has changed over the years as I have taken on more responsibility, but this remains the core focus.
Estateguru’s key values are growth-orientation, boldness, freedom, honesty, determination, and empathy. How do you experience these values in the company?
I see these values play out every day in the course of our work. For example, it’s essential to have empathy in order to understand both our borrowers’ and our investors’ needs. We have a diverse group of people working at the company, but we share the determination to grow the company in an empathetic, and transparent manner.
What do you like most about working at Estateguru?
I enjoy the freedom we are given to innovate and adapt to new situations. I’m also very fond of my team, and the ethos we have created. Estateguru allows talented people to fully explore and develop their talent. There is a belief that anything is possible, and that we can create a new world of real estate financing, together.
Tell us something interesting about yourself. What do you do in your free time? Oh, and we also love their quirks, so what’s yours/makes you unique?
Apart from growing my rental property portfolio… I studied at culinary school, and achieved a formal qualification, so I can cook. I especially love to cook different types of meat. During the summer, I love to barbecue, while in winter I make my own marinated, stewed meat. I also love to slow cook and at Christmas, I usually prepare a stewed sauerkraut. Italian cuisine is my favourite. You can’t beat their seafood, wine, pasta and pizza. Oh, and I also have a boating licence and my own speedboat.
If you could give some advice to people who would like to join Estateguru, what would it be?
Be open to everything. Be open to change. Our industry is changing rapidly, especially given the current global situation. Transparency, also as a person, is important. And honesty.
How has your perspective changed in the years you’ve worked at EG?
I think I have become more conservative. When I joined Estateguru, I had a much higher tolerance for risk. I was more impulsive and spontaneous. Now, I have learnt to measure seven times before I cut.
Thanks, Tauri.
